and eight months from the date hereof and no longer and
at the expiration of the said term of servitude I do hereby
manumit and set free the said John Brooks from all
manner of service or Slavery Whatever In Testimony
Whereof we have hereunto let out hands and seals this
twelfth day of March Eighteen hundred and sixty

    I hereby certify that on this Twelfth day of March
Eighteen hundred and Sixty personally appeared before me
the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace Elanora B Watkins &
Caroline L. Watkins and acknowledged the aforegoing Bill
of sale to be their respective acts & deeds  Witness my hand the
day and year first above written

Release of Mortgage to
Alfred C Hearn
 This Deed made this twenty seventh 27th
day of Sept.r in the year of our
Lord in the year of our Lord
one thousand Eight hundred and
fifty nine by Charlotte C. Baer.  Witnesseth that in
consideration of the payment of the sum of Two hundred
dollars the said Charlotte C. Baer doth grant
unto Alfred C. Hearn all that property which is described
in a deed from said Alfred C Hearn to the said
Charlotte C Bear dated on the first day of October in
in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty and
recorded in Liber E P H. No 2 folio 285 &c one of the Chattel
records books of Howard District (now Howard County)
so far as may be necessary to release the said property from
the mortgage thereby created

State of Maryland Frederick County to wit
       I hereby certify that on this 27th day of Sept in the year
one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine before the Subscriber

Baer and acknowledged the foregoing Release to be her
