On this thirteenth day of october 1854 personally appeare George Bradford party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a justice of the peace of the state of maryland for the said county and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro woman and her two children within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all service to him or to any claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the act of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before E. William Welling all of Howard county and state of maryland are held and firmly bound unto the state of maryland in the full and just sum of twenty thousand dollars current money to be paid to the said state or to its certain attorney or assigns to which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this seventh day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four.
