      Lib. H. D. with the Advice aforesaid shall be thought fit Wee doe further

             by these presents Will Require and Comand you to take all

             possible Care for the discountenance of Vice & Encourage

             ment of Virtue and good living that by such Examples the

             Infidells may be invited & desire to partake of the Christian

             Religion And Wee, doe hereby Require and Comand all

             Officers & Ministers Civill & Military and all other Inhabitants

             of our said Province and Territory to be obedient Ayding and

             assisting Unto you the said ffrancis Nicholson in the Execucon

             of this our CoThission and of the powers and Authorities

             therein contained And in Case of your death or absence out

             of our said Province to be obedient Ayding and assisting

             vnto such person as shall be Appointed by vs to be Comander

             in Cheife To whome Wee doe therefore by these presents

             Give and Grant all and singular the powers and Authorityes

             aforesaid to be Executed & Enjoyed by him during our

             pleasure or vnti!l your Arrivall within our said Province of

             Maryland Provided aiwayes that Nothing herein Contained

             shall be Construed or taken to Diminish or alter the powers

             formerly Granted to our Trusty & well beloved Sr Edmund

             Andros Knight by our Comission Unto him bearing Date the

             third day of March One thousand six hundred ninety one in

             the ffourth yeare of our Reigne But that the said Sr Edmund

             Andros vpon the death or absence from America of you the

             said ffrancis Nicholson shall take vpon him the Cheife Comand

             of our said province and Execute the powers of this our

             Comission as Wee doe hereby likewise Will and Comand

             that our Comission bearing Date the ffourteenth day of No

             vember in the first yeare of our Reigne constituting you our

             Lieutenant Governor of our Dominion and Colony of Virginia

             doe Cease & Determine from the Date of these presents

             Except vpon the Death or absence from America of the said

             Sr Edmond Andros In which Case Our Will & Pleasure is

             that you take vpon you the Cheife Comand of our said Do

             minion and Execute the Powers of our Comission Given to

             the said Sr Edmund Andros Untill our Pleasure be knowne

             And if vpon the death or absence of you the said ffrancis

             Nicholson out of our said Province of Maryland there be noe

             person Comissionated or Appointed by vs to be Comander in

             Cheife of our said province Our Will and Pleasure is that the

             then present Councill of that our Province Doe take vpon

             them the Administracon of the Governmt and Execute this

             Comission and the severall powers & Authorityes therein
