   and Enjoyed within our said province or any other our Plan- Lib. H. D.

   tacons in America vntill our Pleasure be further knowne or

   your Arrivall as aforesaid Lastly Wee doe hereby Declare

   Ordaine and Appoint that you the said ffrancis Nicholson

   shall & may hold Execute & Enjoy the Office & place of Cap

   tain Generall and Governor in Cheife in and over our province

   & Territory of Maryland together with all and singular the

   Powers & Authorityes hereby Granted vnto you for &

   during Our Will & pleasure In Witness whereof We have

   Caused these our Letters to be made Patents Witness

   our Selves at Westminister the Tenth day of ffebruary in the

   ffifth yeare of our Reigne.

     Per Breve de Privato Sigillo.

  

     Afterwards Produced their Maties Comission Under the

   Seale of the High Court of Admiralty in England Dated the Whitehall

   ffifth day of March Anno 1693, Giveing ample power and

   Jurisdiction vnto the aforenamed ffrancis Nicholson Esq to

   Exercise Vse and Enjoy the Authority & Right of a Vice

   Admirall here within all the Limits & precints of the afore

   said Province.

  

     The Comission Runes in these following Words, Vizt

  

   Governor Gulielmus & Maria Dei Gratia Angliae Scotia

   Nicholsons .     .  .

   Comission ffranciae & Hiberniae Rex & Regina fidei defensores

   of Vice &Ca Dilecto nobis ifrancisco Nicholson Armigero

   Admirall Salutem ad Cognoscendum & Procedendum in

  

   quibuscunq. Causis Civilibus & Maritimis atq. Querelis Con

   tractibus Delictis seu quasi Delictis Criminibus placitis Debitis

   Excambiis Computis Chartis partitis Conventionibus Litibus

   transgressionibus injuriis Extortionibus & Dernandis ac

   Negotiis Civilibus & Maritimis Motis seu Movendis quibus

   cunq. inter Mercatores aut inter Proprietarios Navium &

   aliorum Vasorum et Mercatores seu alios quoscunq. cum

   eisdem Dominis & Proprietariis Navium et Caeterorum Vas

   orum quorumcunq. infra Jurisdictionem Maritimam Admirali

   tatis Nostrae Provinciae et Territorii Nostrorum de Maryland

   in America Occupatorum ye! Vsitatorum seu inter quascunq.

   alias personas qualitercunq. habitis factis initis seu Con- p. so

   tractis pro aliqua Re Materia Causa vel Negotio seu

   injuria quacunq. infra Jurisdictionem Nostram Maritimam

   praedict. expeditis seu expediendis vna cum omnibus

   et singulis suis incidentibus Emergentibus dependen

   tibus Annexis & connexis Causis quibuscunq. Ubicunq. seu
