His Exncy acquaints the Board with the Right honble the Lib. C. P. Lords of Trade & plantations Lre of the thirtieth of Decem- p. 124 ber 1707 & the Queens Ordr about the Counsellors giving Due Attendance for her Service at the Respective Councills Which Lre was ordered to be Entred & is as followeth Vizt
Amer. Trusty and Welbeloved Wee Greet you well Whereas Wee are sencible that Effectuall Care ought to be taken to oblige the Members of our Councill to a due Attendance therein, in order to prevent the Many Inconveniencys that may happen from the want of a Quorum of the Councill to transact Busi- ness as occasion may require. It is our Will & pleasure that if any of the Members of our sd Councill shall hereafter will- fully absent themselves when duly Sumoned without a just and lawfull Cause and shall persist therein after Admonition. You suspend the said Counsellors so absenting themselves till our further pleasure be knowne giving Us tymely Notice thereof. And Wee hereby Will and require You that this our Royall pleasure be signified to the Severall Members of our Councill P. 125 in Maryland. And that it be entred in the Councill Books of our said province as a standing Rule. So Wee bid you fare- well Given at our Court at Kensington the 20th day of Novemb: 1707. In the Sixth year of our Reign. By her Matys Comand Sunderland.
The same was directed
To Our Trusty and Welbeloved John Seymour Esqr Our Capt Genll and Governor in Chiefe of our Province of Mary- land in America. Or to the Comander in Chief of our said Province for the tyme being. Maryland.
Advised that whereas many persons in this Province are disaffected to the Government & protestant Succession as established by Law. To the End it may be knowne what number of papists & reputed papists are residing in this prov- ince Orders Issue to the Severall Sherriffs of the Respective Countys to take a List of the said papists names as well Masters of Familys as Inmates Servants & negro's baptized in that Religion and return the same to his Exncy the Governour by the fifteenth of August next. His Exncy layd before the p. 126 Board the Rt honble the Lords of Trade and plantations Letter of the 7th of May 1707. Signifying that An Act of Parlia-
