ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY.

trict of Anne Arundel county, which he prefers as the seat of
justice for said district, and it shall be the duty of the said
judges of election to make return of the election for sheriff and
the votes for the seat of justice for said district, to the clerk of
the court of Howard district of Anne Arundel county, in the
same manner that returns of elections are now made to the
clerk of Anne Arundel county, and the return judges for said
district shall ascertain the whole number of votes given for
each person voted for as sheriff, and shall make such return
and certificate of the election for sheriff as is now made of an
election for sheriff in Anne Arundel county ; and the said

judges shall by a certificate to be filed with the clerk of the
court of Howard district of Anne Arundel county, and by him
recorded, certify that the place which has received the highest
number of votes is duly selected as the seat of justice for said
district, and it shall be the duty of said clerk forthwith to
certify to each of the commissioners of said Howard district
whose appointment may be hereafter provided for, the name of
the place so selected as aforesaid ; and the place of meeting for
said return judges shall be the office of the clerk of the court
of Howard district of Anne Arundel county.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That upon the passage of this
law, it shall be the duty of the secretary of state forthwith to
have the same published in the Baltimore Patriot and Balti-
more Republican, twice in each week, until the day of the
election herein before provided for.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That any one of the judges of the court of Howard district of
Anne Arundel county, shall have full power and authority to
administer the proper oaths of qualification to the clerk of the
court and register of wills, who have lately been appointed
for said district.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the election lately held for
sheriff of said district, shall be and the same is hereby ratified
and confirmed, and shall have like effect and operation as if the
returns thereof had been filed with the clerk of said district
