The Speaker appointed George W. Murdock Hall Keeper,
who was duly qualified.

Messrs. Wm, B. Goddard, John T. Dawkins, Jarrett M.
Hart, Frank B. Cooksey, Esma Lowe, Samuel S. Sudler

and John S. Leonard, officers elect of the House of Dele-
gates, appeared and were duly qualified.

The Speaker laid before the House the Report of the Bal-
timore Female College,

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

Also,

The Report of the Maryland Agricultural College.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-

culture.

Also,

The following communication from Hon. Robert Fowler,
Treasurer of Maryland, together with accompanying docu-

ments :

STATE OF MARYLAND, TREASURER'S OFFICE,

Annapolis, January, 1870.
The Honorable Speaker of the House of Delegates:

SIR:—In obedience to the 4th section of Article 6 of the

Constitution, I have the honor herewith to submit to you
true copies of the accounts rendered to and settled with the

Comptroller of the Treasury, from the first day of October,
1867, to the thirtieth of September, 1869, inclusive; all of
which, I trust, upon examination. will be found satisfactory
and correct.

I am truly and most respectfully yours,

Treasurer.

Mr. Ehlen presented the petition of the Board of Mana-
gers of the Red Men's Hall, located on Paca street, Balti-
more, praying the exemption of said hall, with lot, from
State and City taxes.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Streett presented the petition of the County Commis-
sioners of Harford county and two hundred and seventj
private citizens, asking the passage of a law authorizing the
sale of the alms-houee property of said county, and the build-
ing of a new alms-houee.
