VI REPORT OF THE COMPTROLLER OF THE TREASURY.

"Table No. 2," shows the receipts of State Tax on collateral
Inheritance, tax on Commissions of Executors and Administra-
tors, and excess of fees of office of certain Registers of Wills,
amounting in the aggregate to $144,221.60.

"Table No. 3," exhibits in detail the receipts of State Taxes
from Collectors in the several counties and city of Baltimore
during the fiscal year 1890, amounting in the aggregate to
$854,588.07.

"Table No. 4," shows in detail the receipts into the Treasury
for Licenses to Auctioneers, amounting to $3,050.00,

"Table No. 5," exhibits in detail the receipts into the Treas-
ury from tax on the gross receipts of Railroad Companies,
operating their lines by steam power, for the year 1890, amount-
ing in the aggregate to $60,019.38, showing an increase over
1889 of $1,146.35.

"Table No, 6," shows the several receipts into the Treasury
for the fiscal year 1890, from State Tax on Stocks of the State of
Maryland and city of Baltimore, amounting to $32,983.23.

"Table No. 7," shows the receipts into the Treasury for the
fiscal year 1890, from the State Tax on the Shares of Stock of
Corporations, returned by the State Tax Commissioner,
amouuting to $85,539.84.

STATE TOBACCO INSPECTIONS.

"Table N,o. 8," shows the receipts during the fiscal year 1890,
from State Tobacco Inspections and the disbursements during
the same time for and on accpunt of the State Tobacco Ware-
houses. The receipts were in the aggregate $53,580.87, and
disbursements $43,377.64, showing net receipts to the amount
of $10,203.23, which, added to the balance of tobacco inspections
at the close of the fiscal year 1890, viz., $3,939.84, make a total
of $12,407.52 The salaries paid during the fiscal year to
Inspectors at the State Tobacco Warehouses amounted to
$7,203.70. These salaries were paid prior to the consolidations
of the five warehouses under the management of three Inspec-
tors as provided by Chap. 262 of the Acts of 1890. Since then
the warehouses have been self-supporting and have made a
considerable increase in their returns to the State Treasury.

"Table No. 9," shows receipts from State Hay Scales, State
Live Stock Scales, State Wharves and Weighers of Grain,
amounting in the aggregate to $5,422.03.

"Table No. 10," shows in detail tho amounts of interest
received on various accounts therein mentioned, making an
aggregate of $16,888 41.

"Table No. 11," exhibits in detail the receipts from Notaries
Public for taxes on protests, amounting to $3,808.00.

"Table No. 12," shows the receipts during the fiscal year
from Sheriffs on account of excess of fees, interest and fines
and forfeitures, amounting to $10,120.57.

"Table No. 13," shows the revenue from Licenses to Foreign
