 Kent County fs.t Memorandum that Tench Francis
Gent Attorney of the Right Hon.ble the Lord prop.ry
that now is for the County afd who for the Same
Lord prop.ry in this part prosecuteth Doth Come here
into Kent County Court before Lambert Wilmer Esq.r and his associates
his s.d Lordships Justices of the Same County Court to wit at Chester Town in
the afd County the twentyeth Day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen
hundred twenty and Seven and for the same Lord prop.ry Doth give the
Court here to understand and be informed that Margaret English of Saint
pauls parish in Kent County afd the Servant woman of Edward Worrell
the tenth Day of November Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred twenty &
Seven at the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of
this Court Did Commit fornication with a Certain Negroe Robin and did
permit the Same Negroe then and there to have Carnal knowledge of her
Body and to beget then and there a Mollattoe Bastard Child on the
Body of her the Same Margaret to the high Displeasure of almighty
God to y.e Evill Example of all others in Such Case offending Contrary
to the peace of the s.d Lord prop.ry his good Rule and Government and ag.st
the form of the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided
Wherefore the afd Attry prayeth the advice of the Court here in y.e premisses
for the s.d Lord prop.ry and Due process of Law against the afd Marg.t
in this part to Issue to Answer to the afd Lord prop.ry of and upon the
premisses &c.a                                    T francis Cler. pac.

    And the afd Margaret English in her proper person Comes and Saith that She
Cannot gainsay the Information afd so as afd against her brought nor but
that She is guilty of the premisses above upon her Imposed as by the afd
Information it is alledged and thereupon Submitts to the Court

    Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here this twenty third Day of June
Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Seven that y.e afd Margaret
English Serve the full Space of Seven years as a punishment for her afd
Crime of Comitting fornication with a Negroe in form afd Confest
According to Act of Assembly in that Case also it is Considered that She
pay the Sume of one hundred and Seventy Nine pounds of Tobacco
Costs Accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court
