Amendment No. 4—Following line 1 of Section 98A of the third
reading file bill, insert the following:

"(a) As of January 1, 1962, the Governor of Maryland, by and with
the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint two judges of the
People's Court of Prince George's County who shall meet the qualifications
provided in this section for a term of four years or until their successors
are appointed and qualified."

Which amendment was read and concurred in.

Amendment No. 5—In line 2 of Section 98A of the third reading file
bill, immediately following the word "Governor" insert the following: "by
and with the advice and consent of the Senate,".

Which amendment was read and concurred in.

Amendment No. 6—In line 4 of Section 98A of the third reading file
bill strike out the following: "January 1, 1965" and insert in lieu thereof
the following: "June 1, 1964".

Amendment No. 7—In line 4 of Section 98A of the third reading file
bill, immediately following the word "Governor" insert the following: "by
and with the advice and consent of the Senate".

Amendment No. 8—In lines 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the third reading file
bill, strike out the following: "be appointed for a term of two years and
who shall be in addition to the substitute judge appointed on January 1,
1962. As of January 1, 1966, all the substitute judges of the People's
Court for Prince George's County shall be appointed for terms of four
years" and insert in lieu thereof the following: "serve until January 1,
1966, and who shall thereafter be appointed for a term of four years".

Amendment No. 9—In line 6 of the title of the third reading file bill,
immediately following the word "thereof" add the following: "; and pro-
viding that the present substitute judge of the People's Court shall be
appointed by and with the advice and consent of the Senate".

Mr. Wineland, duly seconded, moved that the House concur in the
Senate amendments.

Said motion prevailed and the Senate amendments were concurred in.
