RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE

TOWN OF WILLIAMSPORT, MARYLAND, TO

AMEND THE CORPORATE CHARTER, TO CHANGE THE

TERM OF THE COUNCIL AND

ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS

RESOLUTION, of the Council of the Town of Williamsport,
Maryland, introduced and passed pursuant to its general
powers for the purpose of amending and revising the
corporate charter of the Town of Williamsport, Maryland, a
Municipal Corporation, existing under and by virtue of the
laws of the State of Maryland; and in particular amending
Section 5 entitled, THE COUNCIL. NUMBER OF COUNCILMEN;
SELECTION; TERM, and Section 5(a) thereunder, to amend the
now existing Section 5 of the corporate charter of the Town
of Williamsport as adopted July 8, 1957, and subsequently
amended on September 20, 1977, entitled, "THE COUNCIL. 5.
NUMBER OF COUNCILMEN; SELECTION; TERM, and to amend Section
5(a) thereunder entitled, 5(a) TERMINATION OF OFFICE -
OPERATION OF LAW, and said section being referred to as
Section 3 in the Charter included in the Code of the Town of
Williamsport recorded and adopted March 3, 1977.

WHEREAS, municipal corporations and the Town of
Williamsport in particular possess such powers as are
expressly granted or necessarily implied by the Constitution
of the State of Maryland and statutory provisions granting
said powers; and

WHEREAS, the Council of the Town of Williamsport deems
it necessary, advisable and in the best interests of the
Town of Williamsport and the community to revise and amend
the Charter of the Town of Williamsport as enacted and
adopted as aforementioned and as subsequently amended.

[Sections 39-5 and 39-5(a) of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Washington County, repealed and reenacted, with
amendments.

Effective Date December 30, 1980]
