to be appointed by the Governor of this State for such
specific purpose, who shall not be a resident of Alle-
gany county, and whose compensation shall not exceed
two hundred ($200) dollars, the State of Maryland to
pay its pro rata of such sum according to the tax rate
of the county and State respectively, and the County
Commissioners of Allegany county to pay the bal-
ance."

Mr. Charles, from Select Committee, reported fav-
orably,

Senate bill, File No. 349, entitled "An Act to repeal
section 192, of Article 22, of the Code of Public Local
Laws, title 'Washington County,' sub-title 'Hagers-
town,' as amended by the Acts of 1900, chapter 391,
and to re-enact the same with amendments."

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Fryer, from Select Committee, reported favor-
ably,

House bill, File No. 808, entitled "An Act to add
an additional section to Article 8, of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland, title 'Cecil County,' to be
known as 'Section 124 A,' under a new sub-title
'Fraud on Livery Stable Keepers,' providing for the
punishment of persons hiring horses or vehicles from
livery stable keepers, in Cecil county, to go a certain
distance and using said horses or vehicles for a greater
distance."

Which was read the second time and ordered to
be engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Wells from Select Committee, reported favor-
ably with amendments,

House bill, File No. 826, entitled "An Act to repeal
sections 281, 294 C and 294 G, of Article 17, of the Code
of Public Local Laws, title 'Prince George's County,'
sub-title 'Roads.' "

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

In section 288, after the word "highways" at the end
of section 288 insert the following:
