286 JOINT RESOLUTIONS

Practices of Maryland State government be appointed, as
follows; Two members to be named by the Speaker of the
House of Delegates, two members to be named by the Pres-
ident of the State Senate, the said members to be named
from the Ways and Means Committee and Finance Com-
mittee, respectively, and of opposite political parties; five
members to be named by the Governor from persons in
industry, skilled and experienced in personnel and admin-
istration; the secretary of said Commission to be the Di-
rector of the Fiscal Research Bureau; said Commission to
study the State Department of Health and the State De-
partment of Motor Vehicles, and to report to the General
Assembly of Maryland and the Governor on or before the
first Wednesday in January, 1955.

(House Joint Resolution 9)

House Joint Resolution providing for the establishment
of a Joint Commission to study certain matters relating
to passenger carrier facilities in the Washington metro-
politan area.

WHEREAS, The citizens of the State of Maryland have
become aware of the inadequacies of the present carrier
facilities and services in the Washington metropolitan area
contiguous and adjacent to the State of Maryland; and

WHEREAS, They have become interested in having a fair
and equitable appraisal made of the transportation prob-
lems in said areas; and

WHEREAS, They are desirous of participating in a joint
study of the aforesaid matter with the Commonwealth of
Virginia and the District of Columbia; now therefore be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Commonwealth of Virginia and the governing Body of the
District of Columbia are requested to appoint committees
of three persons each, to compose with the persons whose
